Using the Database
I can’t find Ball Hockey in the drop down menu. Why isn’t it included?
Try selecting “Hockey” Many of the categories are very broadly defined. E.g. Hockey includes Floor hockey, Ball Hockey, and Broomball. Skating includes Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Synchronized Skating, and Public Skating, etc.
How do I register for an activity?
Use the information provided to contact the organization for more information about registering for an activity.
What do you mean by West, Central and East Elgin? Which do I live in?
We have divided the county into zones to allow people to search for activities which are close to home.
“West” refers to the area west of County Road 14, including the Municipalities of Dutton/Dunwich and West Elgin, and the villages of West Lorne, Rodney, Wallacetown, and Dutton.
“East” refers to the area East of Country Roads 35 and 74. It includes the township of Malahide, the municipality of Bayham, the Town of Aylmer, and villages of Belmont, Port Bruce, Port Burwell, Springfield, Straffordville, and Vienna.
“Central” refers to the area in between Country Road 14 and Country Roads 35 and 74, including the City of St. Thomas, the Municipality of Central Elgin, the Township of Southwold, and the villages of Fingal, Port Stanley, Shedden, and Sparta. Recreation and Leisure Service Providers
How can my organization be included?
You may add your organization to the database, and submit activities using our online form. The organization and activity information will be reviewed by an administrator before they appear on the website.
How can I edit the information about my organization or our activities?
In order to edit your organization’s information you must log in by clicking on submit your activities page. If you have misplaced your password click on ‘forgot your password’. If you have misplaced you username (usually your email address) you will have to use the 'contact us' feature.
What activities may be included?
The Active Elgin Coalition has a policy that only organizations/activities that offer sport, leisure or recreation programs can be included in the database and guide. For more information please review the policy section of the website or contact us for additional information.
We submitted our organization to the database, but it was not included in the printed guide. Why not?
The publication deadline for January’s guide is in October! Be sure to add your activities before then so that they may be included. If you added your activities after the deadline they may be included in next years guide, and will be available online in the meantime.
The Printed Guide
Where can I get a printed copy of the guide?
The printed guide is distributed through the Elgin County Market in January.

The guide is published annually in January.

Only recreation and leisure service providers listed in the guide are able to advertise in the guide. See the advertising policies for further details.
