MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Have you ever wanted to try Paintball, Karate, Yoga, Tennis or another new activity? Now is your chance! On Saturday September 11th, sport and leisure providers from across the County will be offering FREE or low cost activities. Get Active in Elgin Day is a one-day opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to try new activities and leisure pursuits. There are activities for people from preschool to older adult. For more information about the available activities, see our flyer below or call the East Elgin Community Complex at 519-773-5631.

Active Elgin is a coalition, led by Elgin St. Thomas Public Health, of community organizations that is dedicated to promoting sport, recreation and leisure in our community. . The project is made possible through the support of our fabulous partners including the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin, East Elgin Community Complex, West Elgin Community Health Centre, The City of St. Thomas and funded in part by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Regular physical activity helps to keep us fit and healthy. However, recent reports indicate that only about 50% of Elgin residents consider themselves active or moderately active in their leisure time. Here’s the good news though - becoming more active is easier than you think! The key is finding activities that you enjoy doing to keep you motivated and coming back for more. On Get Active in Elgin Day participate as a family, with friends or on your own. Learn something new, have fun and you’ll be on your way to a healthy and active lifestyle.
